Presario 2100 "u" is Continously Stuck/Typed in Even When Keyboard is Disconnected

Hi all,

My friend asked me to take a look at his daughters computer. After a few hours and after doing a clean install I finally figured out why the heck the computer keeps beeping and beeping. Its as if the laptop's "u" key is continuously being pushed down. I disconnected the laptops keyboard (just left my external keyboard plugged in) and the "u" letter is continuously being typed. This leads me to believe something is wrong with the motherboard since I disconnected the laptops keyboard.

Anyone else have any thoughts on what this could be?

Visually checking the keyboard ribbon cable (for damage) and make sure that it seats snugly onto the connector

Yup tried that. I find it odd that even if the keyboard is disconnected the "uuuuuuuuuu" keep coming.

Only thing i can think of is that the keyboard connector to the board is damaged. Might require a new board (?). What happens when you boot from an installation CD?

cheers ...
