I bought an Xbox Elite and a Westinghouse 1080p LCD. I recently moved and can't find any of my games, but bought GTA4, so that's all I have for testing. I first hooked my PC up to the TV and it was fairly crisp, but there were ghosting effects that drove me nuts so this is going to be console only. TVs are not my specialty, nor are consoles. I'm using the HDMI cable that came with the Xbox, and the box is set to 1080p output. GTA4's case says it supports 1080p. However, the game looks horrible. The text in the menus is just fine, but the game itself looks like Monster Truck Madness from 1997... Everything is horribly pixellated, overly dark (even with brightness and contrast cranked ridiculously high), and basically has no desirable graphics at all. Needless to say, my $1000 investment has been a huge disappointment. Is there something I'm doing wrong? These TVs get great reviews across the board, as did GTA4 and Xbox 360s in general. Everyone also raves about how great HDMI is. In my opinion, Nintendo 64 had better graphics than this pile of crap.
