Defraging Mac OS?

Thread Starter
Hi I know mac uses the HFS file system which auto defrags all files below 20mb but say I am going to copy 30 700MB avi files to my MBP for watching, would I need to defrag? Or is it only for video editing not for large file transfer? Sorry first time mac user from pro windows user. Also if I need to defrag what are some good tools (paid or free)

Cheers

You shouldn't need to. I'm constantly loading and unloading files up to a gig or more in size on my computer and I've never noticed any problems.

If you do want to defrag, however, I believe TechTool Pro has a defragger and then there's iDefrag.

I don't know if it was just me or what but the one and only time I defragged my drive I could swear the computer slowed down.
