sony vaio A617s - running hot - help?

I have had my vaio A617s for 3-4 years and now it is running extremely hot, the actual case of the laptop gets hot and the performance goes down. Does anyone know a fix to this problem?

any advice would be great.

Time to take it apart and perform some cleaning and new thermal paste application
