m1210 not reconizing video card in windows hep

i recently reformatted my laptop m1210 from windows xp media edition to windows xp home.

the installation went fine i installed everything then i went to my desktop,right click properties then settings for display and it says the display is on default and not showing the nvidia geforece go 7400 video card.

i went into my bios and it shoes my nvidia card on there but not the windows?

can anyone help me, i am getting a Video Controller VGA conpatible in my device manager i imagine its the video card. help please

are you sure you installed the correct video driver? For the mobile cards you either have to use a hacked driver or the one from Dell's support site. nVidia doesn't provide mobile GPU drivers directly.

yeah i used the nvidia driver straight from dell and used the service tag to get the correct driver.

the laptop is in VGASAVE! i have wiped and reformatted the laptop 3 times today thinnking somethnig went wrong and still nothing.

i need to know how to load the driver correctly, becuase it wont load the driver and use the correct driver. doesnt make sense

have you tried manually installing the drivers in control panel - system - hardware then check the driver installed in the video card?

i did, however i went ahead and bought a copy of windows vista home basic and did a fresh install and windows vista reconized the card and all my drivers fine, so thank god for that, altho i was hesitent on going to vista however i would rather have the laptop working fine with vista than not at all + i dont think vista is all that bad

im glad you finally found a fix for it, well vista is not that bad, just patch it up with updates to make it more stable.
