by default, most wireless NIC's are set to "maximum battery" sacrificing range for battery life. Change your NIC properties to “maximum performance”(or equivalent)

If you have not already, see if AW has updated drivers for your Intel Wireless adapter.
I had issues for a while with the Intel Wireless Adapter on my HP until I found stable drivers.
You might PM littlefrankhas (SP?), he has the m9750 and see if he has had the same issues.

If you are having issues staying connected then go up to your network neighborhood and right click on ur wireless and hit repair...I have issues with some wireless connections because of what type it is... and the distance away...marker is right on checking the battery option... it does that to save power... I always turn off my battery options I dont care if I waste more battery...

Where do I go to change the NIC settings?

It is on battery power

start -> run NCPA.CPL

go to the properties on the wireless nic. in xp, hit configure the advanced. depending on your nic, there are normally 12 or so options. find the one(s) regarding power

Does that work in vista?

yes, you should be able to figure it out from there, or you can always upgrade to xp
