Is it worth the upgrade?

I have a HP 2890 Artist Edition with a T5550 (1.83Ghz, 2M L2 Cache, 667Mhz FSB), and I was thinking about throwing in a T8300 (2.4Ghz, 3M L2 Cache, 800Mhz FSB).

The price of the processor is $260. Would this really be worth the cost? Am I going to notice a pickup in speed? Better yet, will my games have better frame rates due to the faster processor?

Faster cpu does not always translate to better frame rates
