Well, I'm guessing since you have a HP, the panel you're going to want to remove to get to your ZIF socket is going to be located underneath the left side of the mouse pad.

Once you pull that off, you're going to see (and of should see) the cooling fan. Pull that off, delicatly, remove the processor, place in the new one, add some Arctic Silver Thermal Paste (please, do tell me you bought some thermal paste), replace the cooling fan, add the panel, and rememebr what screws went where.

Goto the HP website and find your system's maint. manual. It shows how to get to the CPU...it's a bitch.

It IS a bit involved, to say the least, although it can be done. Do not "guess" about this though, download the manual, it will give you step-by=step directions...definitely the way to go if you are going to do it on your own! There is a specific order in which you want to remove things in order to get to the CPU!

Yes...I was trying to get to my CPU and I HAD to give up halfway because I was absolutely terrified I was going to permanently damage something in the process (like removing a ZIF connector....ZIF my butt)

I have replaced the original cpu with a t-9300 cpu with 6mv of cache and a 80mhz fsb. It is a bit faster now thanks to the cache but the original cpu also had a 800mhz fsb. I did have to remove almost all screws but i did it and it works!

my windows Vista Ultimate score is 5.0
my windows 7 (thats rights 7) is a 4.8

say how do you up load a picture here from my pc tp show my score?
