Hi
I have a Compaq Presario V3000 laptop. it had come with its customised XP software on it .Now i totally deleted the recovery partition and the c partition and wanted to instal XP pro on it.I booted the PC through XP pro service pack 3 CD and it asked for the Intel Sata AHCI controller driver and i installed through F6 using windows XP CD external floppy drive which is http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3195402 .After this installation a message popped saying Insert the disk labelled Intel Matrix storage manager driver into drive A.press enter when ready.I downloaded this Intel Matrix storage manager driver and from hp ie http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-39831-1&;lc=en&;dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=3195402
it is about 17 mb in size .How would this package fit into drive a.Any ideas how to go head with this installation will be greately aoppreciated.

You can use another computer and use nLite to intergrate the driver in and burn to CD/DVD again. The program > http://www.nliteos.com

Second way you can try the bootable USB Stick.

However it shouldn't be a problem. You should skip pressing the F6 and go ahead have the Windows installation loaded and go on install XP. It doesn't matter to have that driver because windows can use its default driver.

EDIT: I noticed that driver from HP is very old and quite a big size, if you download it from Intel download center its only about 6MB you can scrape other unneeded files out and maybe the required files can fit to A: drive 1.4MB

EDIT: I found this ACHI driver for the Windows installation, just download and place it on your A: drive. Also you may need to label the disk as "Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver" whatever the installation requested.

how to instal win xp on sata ahci driver

hi
how to installing windows xp on sata AHCI:

you can creat a new image from win xp sp2 with nlite software and add
your sata driver in your cd's az folowing instruction:
********

for example you can download ich9m driver from this link:
http://www.symantec.com/community/do...jection-script

and
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...e&dno=6721&i=0

after that add your driver to nlite software and make xp image

this second link include this driver's :
"Intel AHCI Controller"
"Intel(R) ESB2 SATA AHCI Controller"
"Intel(R) ICH7R/DH SATA AHCI Controller"
"Intel(R) ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI Controller"
"Intel(R) ICH8R/DH/DO SATA AHCI Controller"
"Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller"
"Intel(R) ICH9R/DO/DH SATA AHCI Controller"
"Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller"
"Intel(R) ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller"
you must know your labtop's need which driver

for example vgn-fw290 has a "Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller"
driver .

i make this xp's cd from this method and it work excellent.
it 's realy easy make xp image from nlite software and ahci driver.

best regards

Another much easier option is simply disable AHCI in the BIOS and don't bother with the drivers at all.

Even though BIOS options are often limited you may have the option to set the disk controller mode. You could select IDE mode instead of AHCI mode. This would fool Windows XP into thinking it's installing on an IDE drive instead of a SATA drive.

There is a negligible, if any, performance hit and in some cases performance may actually be better in IDE mode due to the elimination of the NQC overhead.

thanks you for good suggestion but some of labtops don't have a bios for change sata mode it's lock with company producer therefore you must creat a new image of xp's cd from top instruction
have a good time

I beleive HP doesn't even have a setting for ATA/AHCI in their BIOS. Which I feel is Stupid (yes, with a capital S). AHCI has absolutely no function on a Laptop with a single hard drive. AHCI allows the easy hot-swapping of hard disks, however you can't hot swap your only hard drive anyway. AHCI is also required for NCQ, but NCQ only benefits servers and not single spindle laptops.

Intel I do beleive has an AHCI floppy driver package on their website, however your best option is to nlite the driver onto the disc beforehand.
