Boot to Dell recovery partition?

Hey, not sure if this should go here, or in hardware or something, but I just got my Studio 1535, with Vista Home Premium 64-bit on it. I wanted to test out Vista 32-bit, so I installed it. However, after deciding I want to go back to the 64-bit version, I tried to use the Dell recovery partition to bring the laptop back to factory conditions, and it tells me that the program does not work with version of windows I have installed. So my recovery partition won't work unless I've got 64-bit os on there. I tried booting with F8, but there's no option to boot to the recovery partition.

Any idea how I can get that recovery partition to work? My laptop didn't come with an OS install CD. Dell has dispatched one to me, but it will be a while before I get it, and I would like to no have to reinstall manually anyway, I'd like to just use the recovery partition if possible. Any ideas?

Any linux distro that I can put on real quick to access it?

the Vista restore on Dell's relies on WinRE to load an ImageX image... so its not going to work if you've switched the Windows version (32bit/64bit) it is loading. you would need to boot to an actual disc (32bit or 64bit either) with ImageX loaded on it to be able to restore.

you can make an ImageX disc, check http://fatfitz.net/index_files/Page539.htm since the image is on the other partition, you would just need a simple WinPE disc with ImageX, you dont need to worry about network drivers and such

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
