most likely yes. your problem will be driver support. you'll likely need to visit each components manufactures web site and downlod the xp drivers. I had to d this for vista 64 drivers on my m15x.

chances are the by the time you get yours, someone will have already gathered this info.

WARNING: if they use the same sata controler as the m15/17x (likely) you might need a floppy disk to install xp (or you can format a usb flash as a fdd)

let us know how it works out.

I've gotten used to Vista on my desktop, and I've had relatively few problems. I haven't had any gaming problems with Vista.

Unfortunately, Alienware doesn't tend to provide driver support for OS'es they don't sell with the system, so drivers will likely be an issue. Not sure if the mobo in the M's are available in any other platform either, so Alienware or the OEM may be the only source.

I was thinking about installing XP when I get an M15 as well. I can't stand Vista. Hopefully you'll have good luck w/ your install, and by the time I get mine, the bugs will have been worked out.

G_D77, You can buy the m15x with XP Pro installed. It's fully supported on the m15x and works quite well.

Always keep in mind that the configurations you see available on our site have been tested and validated to work without issue. Vista or XP will work just fine with the supported hardware.

Wut he said.

Also keep in mind that M$ killed XP about four months ago so they're no longer providing XP licenses to OEMs.

Although you can still find systems in retail stores with XP licenses installed, those are the last ones to have come out with XP installed at the factory.

In the case of Alienware, some OEMs have XP licenses in stock so they will keep giving those until they run out. If you want to get your m15x or any other system from any manufacturer with XP you'd better hurry up.

Since they killed XP, M$ is no longer granting rights to OEMs to sell XP with newer systems.
