M1330: Aluminum wearing down?

Just wondering if anybody else has had issues with wear down on the palm rests and I'm wondering why it would be wearing down if it is indeed aluminum. As you can see in the attached photos, there are obvious black marks although they are all very small. Right near the edge of the palm rest there is also rough edging where the finish has been eaten away. Do I have extremely acidic or basic hands or is this just how it goes?

i dont think i use my keyboard for any wear to show... sucks though

I'm thinking the M1330's palmrest is just electroplated plastic. And your palms rubbing against them day in and day out is going to erode material away...that's just fact. It's a similar reason why several keyboards I have owned no longer have glyphs on the home row and also why my Klein tools no longer have their size markings on the butt-end.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to deal. At least it's minor and definitely easy to forget about.

I have similar black marks, but not where one would put your hands. I almost always use an external keyboard.

They are opposite where the camera would be and I think it got wet or something. At first I thought it was chocolate of all things! (I have a 3 year old)

If it's not under warranty, buy a new one, they are pretty cheap on fleabay
