Aurora M7700 D900K will not charge batteries

Thread Starter
I have a couple Alienware Aurora M7700 units that will not charge batteries. They work fine once installed, but if I use the unit without an AC adapter then battery will drain, but will not re-charge if I plug the AC adapter back in.

The batteries are OK, I can charge them in a Area-51 M7700 unit that I have.

This is a strange issue, I've tried BIOS versions 5 and 7, and different OS versions. But it still happens. I've tried like 10 batteries and three Auroras.

Anyone have any ideas?

This happened with some people with d900t laptops. It was the first sign of motherboard failure unfortunately. I think the problem was a capacitor used by the charging system located near the cpu would overheat and eventually fail, so the batteries wouldn't charge. Eventually, the laptops would stop working when plugged in.

I've seen a lot of posts recently with people that have dealt with ztronics for diagnosis and repair of their clevo d900 systems. You might want to contact them and see if they can help you figure out what the problem is, and what the easiest solution would be.
