Is the recovery disk sensitive to hard disk size?

Hello,

I just purchased my new laptop satellite.

I have owned one of these pups before and so I know that the toshiba recovery disk is a ghost image.

What I have done is wipped the hard disk clean as this was a show room piece from circuit city and couldnt trust what was on there.

I am going to be putting ubuntu on the laptop. I want to put vista on a virtual machine.

As you can imagine, the virtual machine would have significantly less space than the actual size of the hard disk (200 gb) but of course large enough to acommodate the install of vista and all of the toshiba goodies.

With that all said, will the image cough, hang and not allow me to install at the point of installing the ghost image because of the different size in space? So say the laptops hard disk space is 200gb but I only allocate 50gb to the virtual hard disk.

Now I do have a legit business class version of vista from my schools microsoft program, but I would like to use the home premium that came with the laptop and use what toshiba had provided me.

So, will it work, or will it not?

Thank you for your input.

. ghost utility should allow you to create a backup onto a virtual disk, so as long as the virtual disk is large enough to cover the whole data system that needs to be backedup, you should be ok

. you can transfer any official ms apps onto any official windows machine, as long as you are not over the limit of the licence usage

cheers ...
