Inspiron 1525 LCD broken internally.

Heya people...

So here is the situation. I came home from work a couple of nights ago, and my lcd monitor was cracked inside, so I immediately called Dell Support, and the technician had said that I would have to pay the 499.00 to get it replaced, since it was due to mis-use, which wasn't the case. My laptop is in almost perfect condition (it is only 6 mths old, and I have another 2.5 yrs left to pay on it). Anyway, this issue arose due to no fault of my own.

Anyone have any idea as to how they will look at this? There is absolutely no external damage on the laptop.

What options do I have should they deem it "mis-use"?

Something might have fallen on it while you were out of the house. An lcd doesn't just crack on its own...And btw, all cracked lcds appear to be cracked internally. The outer layer almost never breaks in order to protect you from getting hurt from the broken glass or chemicals.

No matter what happened to it, they will see it as misuse. It sucks, but that's how all manufacturers would react to this situation.

That does suck, considering nothing was done to it, and I did actually check to see if anything was around it to show that it has fallen on it, which it didn't.

I find it quite unfair that it would be deemed as mis-use, as the screen broke due to nothing that I did..(isn't that the definition of mis-use or abuse)?

Also, if there was abuse or mis-use, there normally would be damage on the exterior of the laptop, which their wasn't.

Anyway, if they do deem it as mis-use, it is foolish....

LCD screen glass does not spontaneously develop cracks in it. The LCD cracked on your laptop through the actions of you or someone else, either intentionally or unintentionally. Complete Care covers such damage as a result of "accidents" not the warranty. The warrany only covers defects in manufacturing.

I was having another issue that may have something to do with this. My AC Adapter was having issues getting power. For example, I would boot the laptop, and have power on the AC Adapter, but then the power on the AC Adapter would flicker (or the green light would) and then it would go off for a few hours, and then just mysteriously turn on.

Another issue with it is that I could not get an external monitor to work either....

shouldn't have let your warranty lapse with that laptop. sounds like it is falling apart on you

Neither problem will cause the LCD glass to crack.
