Acer Aspire One FN 5 hotkey not working

Hi,
I’m trying to solve a problem with an Acer aspire One notebook.
The function (FN 5 ) hotkey button combo do not work, other hotkey commands like volume,sleep,screen blank all work, the note book has an external data show connected to it and it will not connect with the data show using FN5,several different data shows have been tried to no avail, the notebook is running XP home.
I have looked at device manager and there are no yellow exclamation marks apparent.
Any advice would be welcome.

ctrl-alt-F12 bring up intel graphics manager. set up multiple displays using that util

Had I had any possible solution at the time I would have suggested it.

I've since come up with something that in fact did work for me, however, which I'm happy to share.

Some of the Fn/F combination hot keys - including Fn/F5 apparently - don't work unless Acer Launch Manager is running. I had carelessly turned it off along with a number of other things I didn't want loading and slowing things down every time I started the computer.

Start, Run, type MSCONFIG, OK, Startup Tab, check QtZgAcer if it's unchecked, OK, Restart got it to work for me.

PS - You must continue to hold down the Fn key after clicking and lettting go of the F5 key - a little screen will open after a few seconds and you can move across the choices by clicking F5 1, 2 or 3 more times (while continuing to hold down Fn). I.e., it's not like Cntl, Alt, Delete, where you can let go of each key after clicking it.
