Hey, Ive had the same problem I was an idiot and spilt sprite on it.Ugh!
Just 1-2 keys on my keyboard were working sporadically, at which point I removed the connector from the keyb to the motherboard (which is actually kinda located under the space bar key).

In addition to the question above (which I would imagine isn't easy to answer, Ive checked ebay and other usual sources for replacement parts- xcept calling alienware themselves),--- I would like to know if theres an equivalent way to use the function key on the m9700 keyboard on a normal usb keyboard (which I was forced to get a month ago). It really sucks not being able to adjust the brightness/wireless etc. easily as before with the 'Fn' key.
I'm hoping Hammer or some other regulars reply to this thread.

Thanks.

Ok I found that keyboard number is 'MP-03753US-839'. I visited 100 of sites and they all seem to be out of stock.

I found this one

http://cgi.ebay.com.my/Alienware-Are...742.m153.l1262
but its for m7700 but looks the same, and model number is MP-03753US-4302L which similar.

Do know it this one will work on 9700?

I apologize for bringing up an old thread. But is it possible to remap the function keys of the m9700 on an external usb keyboard? I'm unfortunately not in a position to buy a replacement keyboard for the m9700, and it really sux not being able to use the function key; I've searched online and looked up a few keyboard hook scripts which ended up confusing me ever more lol.
So, please, anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think that you can, if you are thinking about using these Fn keys to control hardware (display, sound, etc ...)

cheers ...

Don't wait for them to get back to you. Keep calling until you get either an A: We don't have any in stock or B: We have one we can send you.

If you get answer A, keep calling back until you get answer B.

It took me several calls, and don't call Dell, call the support number on Alienwares website instead.

In the meantime, everytime one goes up on ebay I get an email, even though I got one from Alienware already, I still get notified on ebay when they go up there.

Here is one for sale on ebay now that is for the m9700.

It is refurbished but is guarenteed to work.
