I have re-flash it, but still Machine Name and serial Number are Reserved ?

is it necessary to reset cmos ? i read in web, that it must unplugged the battery of cmos to restore the bios ?

any other way ?

Thx

You can always try that route (remove and reset the cmos battery). Other than that, a trip back to the manufacturer is probably your best bet.

hello jsnv, fortunately you're partially in luck that I have just decided to reformat my VAIO PCG-7F1L, also known as a VGN-FJ 170 or VGN-FJ 170B. All you have to do is open Explorer, yes only explorer, and go to www.sony.com. In their homepage, go under service & support, electronics, and drivers/softwares. Under Option 2, select computer - notebook. Under Option 1, select 'detect my model'. You should be able to see that your laptop is a VGN-FJ 170 series and all the files to your laptop should be there. The necessary files for your drivers should be there along with other softwares included by sony and you may download at your leisure. I have installed every program that'd needed for the VGN-FJ 170 such as camera, cd rom, graphics card, intel chipset, modem, audio driver, etc. The only problem I'm experiencing from all this is that I'm unable to install the keyboard's Function Keys such as volume, mute, brightness, monitor switching, battery life, and the two shortcut keys on the top right S1 and S2. If you're able to find a solution to that or if anyone has a solution to that, please respond to this post. I hope I can make this notebook back into it's original default way because I've lost the recovery CD and I previously installed Windows XP Pro, non corporate. I was hoping that by having a real copy of windows, I'd be able to have all the default functions/softwares back, but I am disappointed now that I can't. I hope someone can help me with this problem. Once again, everything else is installed, except for the FN function options, the keys in blue on the keyboard. Thank you.
