Looking for Network Storage Device

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
G'day folks,

As the title suggests I am looking for something to place on the network that I can store information on. I am currently using a Netgear SC101 Storage Central and while it has served me well I am looking for something that does not have it's own proprietary format (like the Netgear does).

If anyone has any hints, suggestions, advice, or experience it would be appreciated.

Cheers

Setup is:

* Netgear Sc101
* Both systems running Windows....One 2000 Professional, and the other Xp Home....

All going through a wired router....

I don't know much about Network Storage but i came across some on WesternDigital site while i was getting other info > http://www.westerndigital.com/en/pro...14&language=en

Hope that what you're looking for. Personally i would only look into Seagate's and WesternDigital's HDDs.

in the spirit of giving options, check out freeNAS. you'd need an old pc to use as your NAS (I've never actually used this, but I've heard good things about it.)
