Harddrive format question?

Hi, I just purchased a second harddrive for my hp dv9000. When I went to setup the drive it asked me if I should make the drive basic or dynamic. Just to make you laugh I asked to people I know who deal with computer aa lot and one said basic and the other told me dynamic because it offers more options. So that is why I am here. Could some one please explain to me which would be better and why. Thank You
