Help! Problems with my SmartBay Harddrive!

I know that I have read about this before, but can someone help me to understand why I cannot see my smartbay harddrive after I install it in the slot? The battery and the dvd drive work just fine, yet twice I have installed the harddrive and nothing shows up under my computer except for the C: drive.
This is the one I purchased: M15X ADD SMARTBAY HD 320GB 7200RPM FF-SILVER.
Any help would be appreciated

You cant see it under computer because it probably doesnt yet have a drive letter assigned.
Insert drive-
start>right click 'my computer'>manage>disk management>click drive, and assign drive letter>format simple/basic
