Basic question about upgrading

Thread Starter
Hey sorry this might be a mundane question but I was just curious about one thing:

I bought an XPS1730 with the ultimate warranty (complete care & the works). Now let's say that Dell comes out with a way better gaming laptop in a couple of months; does Dell let me trade this one in and pay the different for the new one OR at least upgrade some of the parts in it (eg. 8800s to 9800s). Does Dell upgrade internal parts in a laptop?

Thanks!!

Dell does not Trade Up laptops

They do sometimes replace your broken laptop with a "Newer" equivalent laptop.

Typically Dell sells upgrades in way of Hardrives, memory etc, but they do not do things like "upgrade your Display GPU, or CPU for you.

You can buy parts like the CPU, GPU and put them in yourself but those parts will not be covered by your warranty unless they are purchased from Dell and you have the Invoice.

Lol be VERY careful when talking about "broken laptops" being "traded up" through Dell here. You will probably not get a good responce!

As others have stated there is no trade-up program for Dell's laptops. If you want something that can be upgraded indefinitely you should buy an XPS 730. They have a standard ATX Motherboard and PSU and can be upgraded indefinitely. The LED and fan controls are handled via USB so you'll retain all those features as well.
