QuickPlay malfunctioning on Pavilion dv7-1030!

Hello to everyone.

I recently bought a Pavilion dv7-1030ev and soon enough I realized that the QuickPlay application and QuickPlay buttons don't work together very effectively. Specifically, the application crashes frequently (not sure if it's due to the buttons), the ALT+TAB is not working at all and the playlist cannot be controled when QuickPlay is minimized. The weird thing is that the buttons work fine for Windows Media Player, even if it's minimized to the task bar.

Has anyone come across these problems with QuickPlay? Did you find any solution?

The sad thing is that I have been talking to HP techs for almost a month and they have proposed every possible solution, from full system recovery, to BIOS update and reinstallation of drivers, with no success. Even worse is the fact that all 7 HP agents I have contacted, eventually proposed that I have the notebook replaced. I did this twice already and of course, the 3rd notebook has the exact same symptoms, since it is -obviously- a software problem and not hardware.

Please, share your experience-thoughts with either dv7 series or dv5 series notebooks (I believe they all use the same QuickPlay software) related to this problem.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks qhn,
but this thread is 2,5 years old! I think QuickPlay is at version 6 now, so there isn't much to consider from that mail. Hundreds of notebooks with new hardware and OS have been released since then, so this reference cannot be valid!
Thanks for your concern, anyway.

This might be a bug quickplay app then, the alt-tab is pretty much being recognised as windows to bring up the task control dialog. May be you can try to disbale this function?

cheers ...

If HP can't fix their problem, don't try to do it yourselft. Many HP's models are sold with known defective problems such as wireless card not detected, easy broken left hinge of the LCD. You are qualified for an upgraded laptop if this is your third laptop with the same problem. You should insist to see a higher level of customer service such as manager , who can make a decision , or file a complaint with BBB. Believe me, they will respond fast if you do so. This is your right, don't hesitate to use it. BBB is very powerful to help for some problem like this.
