This is for those who still have the Z71V and have the problem with the main battery not charging.
I had that problem for over a year, but didnt really do anything special with it since I wasnt really relying on it much.
My battery was stuck at around 55-65%
I noticed that it charged a LITTLE BIT HIGHER if I first booted the laptop on battery and then plugged in the AC afterwards.
It would eventually stop, but it made some progress.
Also, I swapped frequently between my AC adapter and my gf's adapter (which is a different brand, but compatible).
Slowly, but surely, after several reboots and several AC adapter switches, I reached 100%
and now... the battery will recharge without problem to 100%
I cant be sure if the battery will not break again in the future, however, right now, it reaches 100%.
So, to resume this :
- Shutdown & boot up on battery
- Swap AC adapter every now and then if you got access to another one
- Dont drain battery until you've reached 100%, because the progress you made might be gone.
