So Ive heard you either cant, or that its really difficult to get a better card into a laptop. Something about it being welded together or...something...
But Anyways, I have this lovely little gateway, like 4 gig mem 250 hard drive...Runs excellent...but I came to find out I cant play things I want cuz the graphics card wont run it..crap I cant remember exactly what the card is atm...Ive been tryin to look online for specs and I cant remember how to get to them thru the computer...what a genius i am huh...But TO MY POINT. Since the video cards shitty, is there any way for it to be removed and a better one placed or is that just not happening for a notebook. And id it can be replaced with something better, would it be cheaper to just buy another computer?
Thanks...sorry so long

MissKitten, your language! ;-)

Your computer is equipped with an Intel GMA X3100 and yes you're right, it's a 54!tty graphics card.

It's basically a min spec integrated video controller and not designed to do anything more than run Windows and Windows applications.

It is not possible to upgrade this card. The rest of the computer seems pretty good and fairly modern so if it's important to you there's always eBay.

Clearly you like smaller displays so I would recommend something like a 14" ASUS with the ATI 3650 or the NVidia 9650M GT discrete (dedicated) graphics card. They range in price between $900 and $1200. You could get something a little larger like a 15" with a more powerful graphics card.

What specifically are your needs and what specific applications or games do you wish to run? What is your budget? What other features do you like in a notebook?
