Video Output of M15x

Thread Starter
I just hooked up my M15x to an external monitor via HDMI. The external monitor is 1920x1200 resolution, but my M15x is 1440x900. Is there a way I can get my external monitor to a resolution of 1920x1200 with my M15x?

Maybe I am being hopeful here, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

EDIT**** I kind of answered my own question, however, here is another one - Now that my min monitor is in 1920x1200 mode, the icons go off the left side of the screen, almost as if the resolution is too high. Maybe there is a fix for this, but i don't know.

Please help

You can run each monitor in its native resolution if you choose the "Extend" option instead of mirror. This will solve your problem, if you indeed want to mirror the same display, your always going to have icon placement and sizing problems if you run each monitor at the same resolution regardless if you upscale one or downscale the other.

I am running my 28" monitor in "extend" mode, and the lcd of the laptop nothing is checked, yet the icons, for example, I can only see the right side of the icon on the left hand side of the screen. Is this norman?

As always, any help is appreciated.

the problem is, for whatever reason, you cannot make the external monitor primary on the m15x unless in single display mode... drives me nuts too.

Open Nvidia control panel.
On the left pane select Set up muliple displays.
On the right pane, select the top option "Only use one display"
Under Step 2. select the drop down for the external monitor.

Actually this one is AW… and you know I’m always backing AW.
The problem is with their ridiculous Nvidia custom inf file. I have not check drivers from laptopvideo2go in about a month, but as of last month the only driver that will work on the m15x is AW’s. if you use a 3rd party driver the card is downclocked more then 50% all the time (and the reg hacks do not overwrite…)

As for getting the external monitor working as primary when using dual monitors, I’ve tried 3 monitors and none work. I actively use three other notebooks this way and everything is fine, one of them also has an HDMI out so it’s not that…

Lastly, you cannot use an external monitor at all if using the integrated Intel GPU (i dont think they support HDMI though).
