Sager 9880 : How to turn OFF main monitor while having 2nd monitor ON?

hello!

i'm planning to buy an external monitor on my Sager 9880. Most of the time, both monitors will be ON but i want to turn the main monitor OFF. If i close the lid, my laptop will go into hybernate mode..i just need to close it maybe and still have the second monitor ON. I haven't purchased the second monitor, so i don't know if i have those options or not

You can turn off hibernation mode in the control panel.

Don't do that! If you run the computer with the lid closed you will possibly cause it to overheat and may damage it. Notebooks are designed to dissipate at least some heat through the keyboard. You don't want that heat radiating directly on to your screen either.

If you want to run it on an external monitor you can simply turn the display brightness down to zero or turn the display off if your computer has such a feature. My NP9262 can dim the display all the way with Fn-F2 but I'm not sure which older Sagers had that feature. In any case you can dim the display all the way using the incremental switches and leave the lid open. This won't affect the external monitor.

i was never going to close the lid totally of course, just bringing down half way or so...
