Best Ultraportable

Hey everyone!

What's the smallest laptop that has DDR3 and a high resolution?
Smallest laptop with decent GPU?
Smallest laptop that can play CSS on max at highest available resolution?

Thanks!

Hard to say, the next generation (if not already is) of netbook comes out with 3G support from LG, MSI, Samsung ....

I personally prefer the ones with HDD, more room to play

Netbooks with 3G (currently offered feature) and hard drive (so ssd) is my personal suggestion. The rest is just looking for a good price offer.

You might want to have a "eye-on" experience with the screen (8.9" vs 10") before buying.

I'm looking for a notebook to play Counter Strike Source on MAX resolution available on that notebook.
Any ideas?

That will be tough, CSS with integrated gpu? Hard to say.

One of the Eee's have the 9300, right?
Do you think it can handle it?
What do you think is the smallest laptop that has a decent graphics card?
Like equal or faster to the 7950GTX, doesn't have to be Nvidia nor Ati.
Actually all of current netbooks/ultraportables have decent integrated gpus installed. Not quite sure if you can compare them to the 7950GTX, due to different (sometimes better) mobos/bios and chipsets. CPUs alone cannot determine how good a game can be played.

I have the eee pc 1000h with XP. Excellent device. Gets my vote anyway.
Awesome, do you think you can play CSS on it?

I don't do games so I can't say one way or the other.

Got my fingers on the Samsung NC-10 and the LG X110 this afternoon. Nice on the typing and good screens. Samsung NC-10 was showing WoW online. It is smooth! Not sure if one gets to higher level, or doing raid, what would happen.

Yes, buy a netbook to work , and whith that money buy a bigger laptop
post #19 of 20
honestly the price of netbooks will get you in many cases a much better spec laptop with integrated optical drive and other goodies....

yes it wont be as small. as for a gaming netbook, to play FPS and other games on dont bother... nothing that can really pump out performance really is out there to my knowledge.

something else to bear in mind when looking at netbooks is the size of the keyboard. I have an Asus 1000H (10"), and it's as small as I'd ever want to go. the keyboard is usable, but a little small (I fumble keys now and again). After getting used to this, I don't think I'd ever want a 9" netbook. Hand size will probably make some difference, but my hands are NOT large by any means (I wear a size 7 glove).

So my suggestion would be to get your hands on one locally to see how it is to type on before laying down any cash.

I wiped my hard drive and put ubuntu on mine or I'd install steam and test out the CS:S for you. In fact, if I find myself with a bit of extra time (ha HA!) I just might re-install windows and give it a try anyway.
