Can't use any bluetooth headphones with Inspiron

Thread Starter
I have an Inspiron 1720 with Vista Ultimate 32-bit. It has the built in Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR Technology with Trace Filter installed. Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator also appears under Bluetooth Radios in Device Manager. Driver is latest download from Dell and it is version 6.0.1.2500 from broadcom. The MS Enumerator has driver version 6.0.6001.18064 from Microsoft.

I can't get bluletooth headphones to work with this. Right now I am trying Sony DR-BT22A's. I have tried logitech and Inignia. All 3 are giving me the same problem so it is not the headphones.

The headphones will pair. I go to add new device and set the headphones to discovery mode and the dell will find the headphones and add them to the device list. But it never says "connected" on the device list. And the lights on the hadphones never switch over to the connected light pattern. If i click properties and click on services, it will actually say "connected" while it gets a list of services from the headphones, but then it immediately disconnects again. In the audio tab there are Bluetooth Stereo Audio and Bluetooth Hands Free Audio. Both say "disconnected". Selecting either one and clicking connect gives me the following error: No Local Bluetooth Device was Detected

I am stumped

Just being curious, did you turn on your headsets, like pushing the voice button?

I figured it out. I had "bluetooth netwok" under network adapters in the device manager disabled. I didn't think that would stop me from using headphones as my mouse, keyboard and all other bluetooth devices worked fine. But I enabled it and sure enough my headphones immediately connected.

Now I just wish there was a way that they would connect automatically without me having to clcik on the bt icon, bring up the settings window, click the audio ab, select stereo headset and click connect. That is getting old.

That is called "real compatibility"! Stick with each brand name and the devices would work/connect automatically, mixing/matching has its own drawback.

WTF? This cracks me up, the guy posts asking for help, then gets rude and disses us here because he doesn't get an answer instantly. Like what part of a peer to peer support does he not understand? It's not like anyone is getting paid to help. What a douche bag!

The only thing I can add to this thread is adios dude and don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Ciao

It's a message board, you can't expect everyone to just instantly know the answer to your question, especially considering the OP wasn't forthcoming in disabling the PAN services.
