Years ago I bought a Dell Inspirion 9300 with a GeForce 6800 vid card and the fancy 1920x1200 display. For years all went well, until the original LCD started to fail. I ordered a replacement display expecting an easy swapout, installation was easy but the new screen was blank upon startup. I could tell that it was getting power , the back light cam on but no picture. FN-F* did nothing. After a few more boot attempts and cable checks I found that I could get it to come to life by going into standby mode and then waking the computer. The screen worked flawlessly at this point aside from this disasterous startup routine I would have to go through. I contacted the LCD supplier for help, they were baffled. After no cure could be found they sent me another panel, this one an LG clone of the original samsung unit. This display refused to ever show a picture. After trying LCD #2 and failing I tried the original replacement panel, no luck, no picture. I tried reinstalling the OEM panel that was failing and all worked fine (aside from the panel having its original corruption issues that motivated me to start this process). Between these swaps I have tried resetting the CMOS by removing the battery but nothing has helped. I may soon be forced to use an external monitor full time (this always works). I know it cant be a driver or OS issue since I can never get a picture during the POST session of bootup. I have the latest bios installed as well. I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter.
