R60e Battery Problems

Thread Starter
I have a IBM ThinkPad R60e laptop and I have just had a battery problem the other day.
I came home from school about 3:30pm, switched the laptop on and it was working fine, no problems. I then turned the laptop off about 5:30pm, still no problems. I later then came to switch the laptop back on, approximately 8:30pm, untouched from where it was at 5:30pm, and there was something wrong with the battery.
The problem with the battery is that the laptop can now not run from the battery and the battery light on the laptop interface constantly flashes in orange. This is not because the battery is low, as I have left the charger in for up to 2 hours now and the light still continues to flash.
Furthermore, when I click on the battery settings, it says that the battery is fully charged, but when I remove the AC charger to use the battery, the laptop just goes off and does not switch to the battery power like it should do.
Also, i dont know whether this bit of information will be of any use, but still, when the battery is connected to the laptop correctly, the orange light flashes. However, when i removed the battery the light goes off completely and no longer flashes, as if it knows the battery is there but for some strange reason it will not use it, despite the fact it says the battery is 100% charged.
I have been looking on the internet and I have tried the static discharge trick where you remove the AC charger and the battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds, but still no results.
My charger is "Lenovo" that gives out 20 Volts and 65 Watts.
My battery details are:
Battery Name:92P1137
Unique ID: 131SANYO92P1137
Chemistry: LION
Power State: On Line
Manufacturer: SANYO
Any advice would be deeply appreciated as this, to be honest, is really annoying!!!
Thanks ..

I had the exact same problem with my R60 and found out that it meant I had fried the battery. Although the manual never said anything about me needing to switch to AC adapter power only when using the laptop primarily as a home computer (i.e. not running on battery power each day,) it seems that is actually what is required to maintain your battery life. I had the same experience, took my computer in, and was told that I had fried the battery and would have to buy a new one, or run it on AC adapter power only. (I chose to do the latter, as I mostly use my laptop as a home computer now that I’m finished school anyway.) I hope your circumstances turn out differently, but I suspect you’ll find the same thing. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
