Doesn't seem extremely high to me. I had temperatures upto 85C with 45C ambient. All fans are on @ maximum, power consumption is outrageous tough.

Wrote this with 54C at the CPU @ 24 C ambient.

speedfan is software, it wont be as accurate as physically testing it

its only hot if you cant put your palm at the hottest part for over 10 seconds

what is the problem with my laptop temperature?

i have a core2 dual processor 1.6. the problem is this that the temperature of the cores change each second. like if it is 45 then 54 then 53 then 45 then 50........like this it changes continuously....is this normal or is there any problem with my temperature sensors.
any kind of help will be appreciated.
P.S. i use speedfan, HW monitor to check my temperatures. and my laptop is new

Supposing the software is well written, the readings should be 100% accurate.

That is so not true. You can't know if a system is overheating or not just by touching it.

Not really sure, but I think it is normal. I've ran some tests and my temps changed like that too.
