my current setup in my sig. I was really thinking about getting a desktop replacement laptop (either 4780 or 8790, probably 4780) I went to newegg and priced it all out..

Case, ANTEC Sonata, 380W Power Supply - $85 Retail Value
Motherboard, Abit KR7A-133R - $50 Retail Value
CPU, AMD Athlon 2100+ - $58 Retail Value
RAM, Crucial 256mbx3 (total 768mb) - $180 Retail Value
Video Card, ATI Radeon 9600SE - $118 Retail Value
Sound Card, Creative Labs Audigy2 ZS GAMER - $125 Retail Value
Hard Drive, Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM - $55 Retail Value
DVD-ROM Drive, Sony 16X DVD-ROM Drive - $29 Retail Value
DVD/CD Burner, NEC 8X Black DVD+RW/-RW - $90 Retail Value

Comes to $860, do you think I could get $1000 with my Sony Trinitron monitor and my junky keyboard and mouse?


I'll throw in some software too, like Microsoft Office 2000 (which I have legally) but I don't know about throwing in an O.S.

I'm really unsure with computers and what to buy, there are so many options, thanks for your help guys.

860 would be a price with all that new...and clearly those parts aren't new...i would bet with the monitor you can get 700-800 plus shipping. just my opinion though.

It is possible to get $1000, if you include monitor software and windows. You'll have to post it on ebay though. I've seen many crappy computers go for high prices on ebay.
