I don't get this thread--people saying that Sony has no XP drivers available, that Sony support said there are none, etc.
Damn it--they are right there--on Sony's support web site! Not only drivers, but utilities, etc. Everything is there!
For instance, here is the download page for my Sony notebook:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...VGNSZ780&LOC=3
My notebook also came with only Vista installed, no media included for XP, yet XP drivers are there on the site. I'm not going to check for you, but I see no reason they would not be available for your notebook as well.
You could try using the URL above, and substitute for VGNSZ780 the full model # of your notebook. I'm not sure if that would work, but it may.
Or, go to
http://esupport.sony.com/, choose your notebook, the page for downloads, when it asks your OS choose XP.
Actually, for my model, there is even a FTP site specifically for downloading XP drivers and utilities. That could actually be simpler, as one can download all drivers in one zip file, and all utilities in another. Take a look:
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/OS/XPDOW..._WITHOUT_DISC/
Do not download from that page, as they are for my notebook. But my guess is, such a page is available for your notebook as well.
I really find it strange, these statements in this thread, about Sony not providing XP drivers and utilities! They are right there, in an obvious place! (The first place mentioned.)
How to install? Once you have all your Sony drivers and utilities for XP, if you want to completely eliminate Vista, not do dual-boot, you have your XP install disc and license, etc., and you have your Sony XP drivers and utilities on a separate drive (flash, USB, etc.), then reformat the drive, and install XP from scratch. Afterwards, install the Sony drivers and utilites, or whichever of them you wish.
