P-6860 Questions

Thread Starter
Had my 6860 about 6 months and love it, but it is time for upgrades with forthcoming giftcards

Ordered Intel 9300, any problems known with this installation? I have seen some peeps talking of pulling GPU pads off. Is this a particular problem with the install?

Looking at Ram, G-Skill has 8GB DDR2 notebook kit at newegg. Does anyone know if these notebooks will handle it? I have seen other notebooks handle it, some only after a BIOS update. Gateway does not seem to be much in the way of updating anything driver wise.

Speaking of updated drivers, I am running Vista 64 bit on here and everything runs fine, CODWaW and BF2 being my main games. Is there a good video driver update out there or do I need to even worry about it, thinking of the old saying" If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Thanks in advance for any and all help/suggestions!

Thanks qhn. Checked out the thread and will be good to go when T9300 comes in.

I noticed it said 4GB max mem, same as tech for Gateway, but I am wondering if anybody has tried the 8GB kit in the P6860FX?

Lastly, NVidia is now updating mobility video, the way they should have all along. A big thank you goes out to laptopvideo2go.com for their excellent drivers, you guys took care of NVidia's job for them.

Correct MAx is 4GB, thats the chipset limitation, not the physical limitation, you can prob put 8 in, but may not see 4 of it.
