Cannot Start Lenovo SL 500

Hello!

I've had this Lenovo SL 500 for about a month or so and while I have my personal issues with Vista I thought it was working pretty okay. A while ago I gathered some pictures from a recent trip and when I plugged in an USB with some pictures of a friend I got a warning that it needed a scan. I did the scan but the only answer was that it's read-only. I copied the pictures and burned them on a DVD, and then it stopped working. It would not eject the DVD and it wouldn't let me do almost anything. I ended the process from the task manager and then tried to shut it down. It would not shut down even after I pressed the button for a while so I tried to remove the battery. And now when I try to turn it on it makes some very weird noises and would not move from the start screen. And even if I try to press the Lenovo Care button to interrupt normal startup it would not budge.

Is this a virus that is screwing everything or can it be some sort of hardware related problem? What can I do about it? Is sending it to warranty my only option? Has anybody else had this problem?

Sounded like you got yourself a nasty virus. Try system restore under SafeMode?

At before windows, tap F8, you will be offered a safe mode (among others) to start.
