What is the best laptop money can buy at around $600-800?

I noticed a few laptops which caught my attention:

$699 - SONY VAIO NS Series VGN-NS140E/S NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T5800(2.00GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 3GB Memory DDR2 800 250GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel GMA 4500MHD

Pros: Looks very sexy, heard Sony make reliable, durable laptops.
Cons: I could probably get better specs at that price. (but I personally think its sexyness compensates. beauty vs brains?)

$750 - Toshiba - Satellite Laptop with Intel® Centrino® Processor Technology http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...

Pros: Looks good, long battery life
Cons: Only really attracted to the look, the specs aren't great.

$650 - HP - Pavilion Laptop with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5800 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...

Pros: Very portable, very powerful, amazing specs for its price.
Cons: But I hate the mouse pad and I'd have to by a mouse with it (mice break so the costs add up), not attracted to it in any way other than its specs. I dislike the design plus it only comes with 2 USB ports so I'd probably need to buy a hub too.

I don't care too much for powerful specs, I value durability most. I want something that will last but still holds up in performance and appearance.

Please post laptops you think are better than all three of these, but also state your opinion on which is the better out of these three..thanks a lot.

personally the laptop im using at the moment is a toshiba which is little better than the one you linked to, granted i know mine cost less than the one you linked to (and yes its got better spec).

im very impressed by the little thing, for the price its more sturdy and got a better screen than i thought it would. the vista x64 is better than the 32 bit in my opinion, and for average day to day use (word processing, internet, music, etc) the toshiba is great.

i miss the huge number of usb ports but its not that hard to deal with it.
