ASUS G50VT and Acronis Backups

This question may seem insipid, but I would really like to know if this is possible:

I'm getting nauseous trying to get my Wifi connection running with Vista on my new G50VT. Is it possible to install an Acronis backup (an image of the XP drive) from a computer running XP onto one of the other ASUS drives? Do I have to install XP first on the new laptop or will that happen automatically from the Acronis backup? If this is possible, how do I get the computer to boot from the XP drive rather than the Vista drive?

I had no problems at all. Did you reinstall the OS? I did and I couldn't find my wifi connection until I reinstalled the drivers from the G50VT Install disc.

Your question about the OS reinstall I guess pertains to my wifi problem, and not the Acronis backup.

I'm in France, where Orange is a major Internet/mobile, etc. provider. When I called them, the techie, after running me through some useless manoevers, finally told me I had too many laptops using the Wifi broadband and I needed an Orange 'expert' to call me at a specified date - for 30 euros he would fix the problem. After a Google search, I learned other people had this same runaround from orange, and found that all they had to do was push a little button on the bottom of the Orange Livebox. I did this and once I typed in my key code, I got the connection, no problem. I don't know how Orange gets away with this scam, but it is outrageous.

As for installing the Acronis image - all I have to do is change the order of booting in order to boot up from the drive where I installed the image to run XP?
