Can you upgrade/mod a IBM T42p to a due core?

Thread Starter
I deeply involved in the going green industry, and have fond our current laptops need a duel core for all the web and engineering applications. I know the processor is replaceable on the mobo, but can you put a duel core in? What about memory performance issues? Can you/has anyone upgraded/replaced their T42p mobo to anything faster better? I would love this path over replacing all these T42p units that function perfectly except that the processor is usually pushing 100% most of the time and makes things very innefficiant and ultimatly not green ;-)

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, it isn't possible.

The architecture on these machines is only compatible with Pentium M processors. The Pentium M and Core2Duo CPUs use different sockets making them physically incompatible. Besides, the chipset would not support a dual core CPU.

No amount of modding, pin modding, drivers or BIOS hacks or upgrades is going to allow the T42p to take dual core CPUs.

Sorry.

hmm chances are the reason why your laptop has been pushing 100% is either
A) intel's speedstep nonsense
B) your processor is having heating issues
