Ok, right now Im using my 5670 to game, and I have to say it has not failed me yet. But in a couple of months, the big boy games are coming out, and Mr. Freeman would be upset if I didnt play his game on a good rig. So what system should I buy for a price range of say $1000-$1800? I just cant think of any good companies right now to buy from, and I certaintly dont want to get a desktop that does own. And I certaintly dont want to build my own computer (everyone I know had troubles with making computers). So...any suggestions?

I've read mixed reviews about cyberpower. I'd do some more research on them before buying. Both myself and my friend have gotten desktops from Vicious PC, and we have both loved them. They make top notch computers and their prices aren't too bad. Check this one out http://www.viciouspc.com/product/config_assassin.html
Their customer servious has always been helpful and curtious. I'm in the market for a new desktop and was going to go with another vicious, but decided to build my own.

Falcon NW is also supposed to make some good machines. I've never bought from them but here they are good to do buisness with. http://www.falcon-nw.com/config/build.asp
Their machines can get pricey though. They do offer a ton of services though, like not voiding the warenty if you oc.

There is also Alienware and Voodoo, but they are really expensive. Don't know if any of this helps, but good luck with your decison, and let us know what you decide.

PS: Doesn't PC Torque sell desktops?

PCI Express is coming relatively soon. Also, Nvidia's new 6800 is supposed be released in next few weeks/month. If you can wait, new hardware is just over horizon and will improve game plan considerably (at the Nvidia will...)

Hi there,
I think it's time I get a new PC. Been using this generic slow PC for 4 years now. It annoys me. I been getting this video card problem and can't take it anymore. When it acts up, it blocks my screen with a coloured screen. The colours change so often! When I am working it does that. Sometimes even after I boot up and on the desktop, the colour screen of death comes up and it's time to reset.
I don't have much money at the moment, but I think if I shop around online, I can find something. I am not particularly seeking a brand such as Dell and others who give you more of what you don't want. I want to configure my own and have the ability to minus what I don't want. I guess in essence that is a barebone PC. But some barebones come a bit too bare! I don't want to buy too much when I get it. Would be nice if all I could get after receiving one was the hard drive (which I already have).
Where from your experience can I get a neat system (barebone or nearly) online? I have a maximum of $US 400.00 and might go a little over if the system compels me. Please, I need to replace this junk THIS summer.
Here is what I want or like:

2.0 GHz or more Celeron or some Pentium IV that can match my price
512 MB RAM
56 K V.92 Modem
CD-RW (DVD not totally necessary)
Good video and sound
Floppy drive
SLEEK CASE. I hate the HUGE case I have now. I want a case under 16" tall that has USB ports in front and NOT too many empty bays. Would be nice if all it has was the floppy and CD-ROM bays.

I was checking the EZ-Buddie at Internetishops.com. Not through yet, but not sure they offer a customizable EZ-Buddie. Someone please help me. I am getting frustrated. Seeking answers. Just direct me and I will look. THANKS.

just because your friends had trouble building computers doesnt mean you will. its important you research everpart you want for your desktop. go with a certain brand motherboard . or you can pick the parts and have someone esle build it. i did that with mine and it works great. all within the price range you are looking at

Any other suggestions anyone?

P.S. That site has mostly refurbs. I'll stick to Internetishop for now...until something else comes up.

Build your own and buy your stuff from newegg. They got a great selection, cheap or free shipping, and are GREAT to do buisness with. Best of all they are cheaper then anywhere else.

i have made a dew computer in my time, (god that makes me sound old) and every single damn time I build one, something goes wrong. But I'll see if its cheaper to build one myself, or buy one from a company. And thanks for the great sites, my only option that a knew of as dell (YIKES), but vicious gaming PC looks bad ass, ill see what i can come up with hardware wise on thier site. Thanks everyone .

PCTorque does have desktops. I have followed the Sager support forum and I would feel real comfortable with any purchase from PCTorque. Vicious, Voodoo, Falcon, and of course my choice Alienware are the most well known for Gaming. I never met a Voodoo owner. My wife owns a Falcon and one of these days I will post a picture of my Alienware LAN Gaming Room. If anyone is going to be spending a lot of money on a new system I would suggest being smart and base the decision on cost, components and support.

Building your own will be a lot cheaper. But if you don't want to build, just buy. Yeah the vicious pc's are really great.

If your skittish about building the PC yourself (like I am), I would check out Monarch (http://www.monarchcomputer.com). They have excellent Retail Ratings, a vast selection, and very comparable prices to building your own. They have an AMD FX-53 loaded rig that I'm seriously considering getting at right about $3000 (it's pre-built, but you can build your own there too). If I were to buy all of the items in that rig from the cheapest reputable online retailers, it would cost around $2800 before shipping.

yea im VERY skittish about building my own comp. Sometimes i dont put the ram in all the way, incorrect power supply, wrong bios, ive done it all wrong . But yea, vicious is awsome. I got the price to go down to 1200 without a monitor, which I will buy from a seperate company. With a 3200+ amd prosessor and a geforce fx 5900xt video card at that price, half-life 2 will be owned

Voodoo desktops are really nice, and their prices are a lot lower then some other top of the line gaming desktops. Now their laptops are way too expensive, so don’t let that fact scare you away from their desktops.
