Model: HP Pavilion dv5t I think, I got it for christmas. I went and uninstalled all the programs I didn't want and may have uninstalled something to work the Fingerprint Reader. I tried downloading the Verisoft and BioScrypt programs but for some reason it doesn't work, i am not even sure if it detects the Reader. Any suggestions on what to do? I did email them but they haven't responded yet.

Try to see if the fingerprint reader detected in device manager
Start-->Run-->devmgmt.msc then OK.
If you see a yellow mark, probably it's missing driver.
If it's not seen in device manager, probably the card is bad or the cable is not connected. It happens as some daydreaming assembly guys forgot to connect the cable.
One more thing, you need to register your fingerfrint before using this device.

Ok I looked on the Device Manager and I looked under Personal identification devices and I saw the Validity Sensor and thats it, I am not sure if that if the finger print reader but i am also not sure where to look for the yellow mark but it seems like all the drivers are there. I really hope that the laptop isn't messed up. Oh yeah btw, when I logged on at first the log on screen said "to use the fingerprint reader you must log on normally first" or something like that.

It seems your hardware is OK. You need to enroll your fingerprint first to use this device. Look on your desktop for a link demonstration how to do it or from
Start --> All Programs. Look in the Verisoft software for help.
Or you can look from here how to use this device

Restore or recovery is the last resource when one doesn't know what to do. It become worst when there're many important data and programs added. For a simple problem like this, restore or recovery is not necessary.
This fingerprint reader is working. The one that need to do is an enrolled fingerprint. The card will scan an user fingerprint as an image and store it in Security Accounts Manager (SAM) Files. Without a fingerprint image, the software won't work, like windows password, you never see the login screen if there is one user and he/she doesn't set password.
