System Model number/Wireless problem

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop & after i reformatted my laptop, i saw that the wireless network is not working properly. I have checked that the wireless adapter is not recognized in the device manager.

So, i tried to install the driver from the drivers CD , that i received from Dell whil buying the laptop. But after running the Dell Resource CD, i forund that there the drivers are categorized in three types of system model number

MXC051

Inspiron ME051

Inspiron 710m.

Now, my question is how can i find out my laptop's system model number so that i can install the correct driver.

2>Can any one tell me the probable root cause /solution to my wireless problem.

You should be able to find out which driver you need by asking Dell support. You seem to be following the correct procedure in troubleshooting. If you can find the correct driver, Windows should then recognize the device.

My warranty has expired, so i am not able to contact them through email. I will try calling them up on Monday. But can any one provide me any other quick suggestion as this is kind of blocking me...

What is system model number? Is it supposed to be same as my model number (Inspiron E1505)?

MXC051 appears to be for a Dell M140/630m notebook.

Inspiron ME051 appears to be for a dell-inspiron-b120-1300-b130

and an Inspiron 710m is obviously for an Inspiron 710m

Here is the dload link if you have a Dell 1390 or Dell 1490 wireless card:

Here is the link if you have a 1500 draft N wireless card:

And here is the link if you have the Intel 3945ABG or the Intel 4965AGN wireless card:

I got this info right off of the Dell website. Not sure how helpfull it will be. You could always pick a driver, install it, and seeif it works? Some times "trial and error" is the best way.

Why can't you just enter your Service Tag on Dell support website and get all the right drivers? That is what I usually do.
