yep thats my feeling too about geeksquad. utter and complete crap they are....
the stuff inside is prettymuch all proprietary and the costs of repairs can be extreme if you need it. its part of the reason i would be very skeptical about any ebay laptops. they are just such a risk. alienware support will still exist but you are going to have to pay for it, and that isnt cheap. geeksquad wont be able to do anything but the simplest of repairs (which you can do yourself really), for an alienware laptop like that they are just as useless if not more than they already are.
as much as you saved alot you also are exposing yourself to significant risk through ebay buying. the m17x is a great machine and it shouldnt have issues for a couple years at least. hopefully you can save in the meantime enough to pay the repair bill or buy a new machine.
