i9300 replacement?

I finally had enough (5 motherboards, 2 hard drives and other parts later) I asked for a replacement, and they said OK. I take online classes and work from home, and have given replacement parts and shipping it to depot enough chances.

What might the replacement be? I have an i9300 17" truelife, 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, xp pro sp2, 6800go, 60gb 7200rpm hd.

Hopefully the next machine is better. Honestly I would rather have a smaller machine like the m1330, but I didn't bother trying my luck even though it's worth half what I paid for mine, glad it will be sorted now.

you will get a 1720 most likely, or possibly the studio 17.
getting something like a 1330, your best bet is selling it and grabbing up a 1330

Hope I don't get a thrashed one like I saw you previously got. Support status page is bunk, guess I'll try forget about it until it happens but I would like to know when to expect it so I can be home.

Mines in excellent shape for the most part, no scratches, dents or chips and sat on my desk most of the time... It's just pretty much useless.

yeah, i ended up getting a newly built m1730, but it was a fight, still is, the gpu is worthless compared to what i had before for what i want to use it for, still waiting for dell to upgrade...

Looks like I'm getting a bit of an upgrade out of it which is OK. Though I'm a cyclist and desperately need a 13-15" notebook for my pack for my daily coffee shop stops and classes. But anyway

It's an M1730, 250gb 7.2krpm, 2gb ram 800mhz (will my 533mhz 1gb chips (x2 in my 19300 fit in here or will I need 2gb chips or is the speed not worth it?) If not, I'll launch them for 20 shipped, used for 5 weeks, still have packaging, PM me., gpu is G8400,SLI...

Won't complain unless it looks like a tramp, seems like a good deal, glad I spent the money I did on the warranty.

ah: only thing is it's vista.. I thought I would have a mac before I had vista. "Module,Label,Microsoft,WindowsVista Os,Premium,Inspiron" - vista premium? I definitely need to get more ram.

8800gtx gpu you mean?

why replace the ram? it holds 2, and it should have faster memory than 533 when you get it, and from what i can tell from what you wrote you only have 1gb chips, which is what it will have already.

pretty awesome upgrade, i am fighting for my 880 upgrade and i had a m1710 with a 9750 gtx... dell is so inconsistant with what they send out as replacements

Woodstock, I'm going to check this out first, I might enjoy it.

The video card says: Module,Card,Graphics IUPGA5D,G84,SLI
Not sure what that means, thought it was 8400..

As for the ram, I want 4gb of ram, or is the limit 2gb in this? I guess 2x 2gb sticks is what I would want.

Nice, it says it's shipped, when it wasn't scheduled to ship until next week.
the limit i think is 8, but idk, the 4gb sticks are a bit expensive, i think 4 is plenty for most people, but to utilize all 4gb you will need to install a 64 bit os, otherwise you will only see 3gb on your syst i think (thats what i see in mine while in vista 32 bit anyways, but i have the crap 8700 gt's)

as for the 8800 reference, unless they just started and i am unaware they only offer 3 gpu choices in the 1730, the 8800 sli, 8700 sli and 8700 single.

enjoy, but be warned, it is fricking humongous, and ugly as sin, but the performance is good, if you do get the 8800 gts's, it will be an awesome game rig!

i was joking about trading for my 1330, you would be insane to take that...

Woodstock I would like to point out that using a Dell XP disc in a system that does not have the licence for it is software piracy. The only Vista Versions that give the user a downgrade licence for XP Pro are Vista Business and Vista Ultimate. I'm not saying you couldn't, just that you shouldn't. Also discussion of piracy is getting more and more frowned upon on this site, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them.

That being said: zomb, Vista is FINE despite what you have heard from everyone all over the wide wide internets. I've been running Vista on my gaming desktop since last Summer and haven't had a single complaint about it. What makes Vista suck on an OEM system more than anything is McAfee and Norton's latest Bloatware. If you use a much less bloated Antivirus program like AVG or Avast or even PCCillin Vista gives you MUCH better performance.

oh, ok. i wasn't aware that was piracy

Get 4gb and ask for the 64bit version of Vista Premium, it is by far the snappiest and best running version, but you have to have 4gb of ram. Then put Windows 7 end of the year and it'll really rock.

My I9300 still rocks great...cept my Burner wont read or open. Time to replace it....

G84 is the chip for the 8700 series card. the 8800 series uses the G92 chips.

What's a good price for this? I've been trying to sell my i9300 for a year or so now to get a smaller machine, but it kept screwing up whenever I was ready to sell it. It would make more sense for me to quickly get rid of it before spending a day installing all my applications.
