Hello I've been talking with Alienware and they suggested I come to this site and ask the question. I have an Alienware Area 51 M 5750 with an ATI X1800 250mb Mobility PCI Vedeo card in it and I think its on the blink. I was wondering if anyone here knows if I can upgrade this card to a better one Alienware does not know if it can be done, they built my system with max peformance for the motherboard or so they say and suggested me to come here to see if anyone has tried one and if it works. I found a replacement for mine online but I would like to get one even better if at all posible. I am having trouble playing some games link Farcry 2 and COD World at war and somtimes Video lashing in Delta Force. I have upgraded to the max of 4 gig memory and that helped Detal Force and I have Omega drivers for the card I have now so I've done eveything I think I need to do to try and solve this problem. Can anyone help.

Thanks in advance

The M5750 was also realeased by Alienware as the m5790 later in the year it featured an optional X1900 ATI Video Card I've only seen them for sale over in Europe. They are easy to change if you can find one. The Ztronics X1800 is a good deal. If you come across some X1900s I'd be interested.

Link to some benchmarks X1800 X1900 7900 GS included

The X1900 really shows it strengths in the 3DMark 05 & '06 benchies

The video card is MXM based Type III see link here

The reason I recommended the MXM-upgrade guys is because they do quite a bit of experimenting with different cards, and the owner of the site has a couple AW systems.

ztronics.com has been recommended by people here that have used them for repairs on their m7700, so no doubt they're reputable and offer a good deal, but you were asking what cards would work in your system. The MXM-upgrade guys will be able to answer your question about whether a newer card will work, whether you buy from them or not.
