Problems with M-6843

I am trying to reformat my gateway m-6843, but when I put in the XP cd to reformat, it says there are no hard drives to reformat? It says please make sure there is power to your hard drives, etc. I clearly can see the hard drive work when I use it, but reformatting it doesnt work. I am confused. Please help thanks.

im pretty sure its a safety measure to block people from reformating or something. Can someone tell me how to either unlock it or something

Your XP installation requires a (missing) sata driver to recognise the drive.

where would i go about getting a sata driver?

. Search the net for "INtel SATA AHCI driver"

or

. check your BIOS and see if you have the option to turn AHCI support OFF (disable)

I downloaded the chipset and mass storage driver packs from driverpacks.net I then used nlite to integrate all the intel drivers in txt mode and the others in regular PNP mode. I burned the compilation and it found the hard drive.
