SZ320 slower after I installed more RAM?

Hi,

My notebook originally came with 2x512 MB RAM and a little while ago, I installed 1 stick of Kingston 2GB PC2-5300 RAM and I saw an improvement in its speed.

Just the other day, I installed another stick of an indentical 2GB Kingston, and now the boot-up and switching bertween program seemed noticably slower.

I don't know what is going on!

Also, another problem that poped up was that after every shut down, when the notebook boots back up, all my settings has been resetted to stock, My Documents, My Pictures, My Music etc has been cleared (although they remain in the HDD), but they come back after I perform a system restore. Why is this so?

Thanks in advance!

It can also simply mean that it cannot handle the 2 gigo, stay with 1.5 and be happy, honestly.

cheers ...

If I were to take a guess, it sounds like your CMOS battery may be out of power or close to it, which would make your computer take longer to boot up because CMOS is cataloging your system hardware and would reset settings to default because CMOS can't remember them due to the battery having no power. The fact that it happened when you installed more memory seems like more of a coincidence to me, unless you accidentally popped the CMOS battery loose when you were installing the extra RAM.
