Sony AW190 custom built - problems! Need help.

OK. I've just received my fully loaded AW190 and... noticed a couple of problems:

1) Screen flickers every 5-10 seconds. Very slight but noticeable flicker
2) Dead pixel
3) Spot/stain on the screen that cannot be removed. It's the size of about 5 pixels. These are not stuck/dead pixels.

RGB LED screen.

I need your advice. I can:

1) Purchase next business day coverage and call them to have someone replace the screen. ~500USD + I think the policy is "to the maximum cost of the computer". So if to replace the screen costs $700, I will be left with only so much for future problems. Worth it?
2) Bring it to the service center and have the screen replaced. I doubt they will replace it with a refurbished screen, but there's a chance. Also... the feeling of not having a "brand new system"
3) Send it back to Sony, get a refund, place another system and wait for it to be delivered. ~3 weeks total.

What would you do?

I wish Sony had Dell's customer service. Complete care policy for $300 CAD covered the computer COMPLETELY for 3 years with next business day on-site service. It also wasn't to the maximum cost of the computer, so I did not have to worry about breaking the computer/etc.

Thanks for any advice. What a disappointed to get the top of the line system with a screen problem.

Numero (3) sounds good to me. It is a trade-off of 3 weeks waiting, but it is the best solution I believe.

Good lucks

Thanks for the answer.

Yes, #3 sounds good although it's a pain to send back/etc. I like #2 as well since they can order the screen from Sony and then replace it while I wait...

If the service centre is Sony approved, then why not

I was just planning on buying a new Sony AW180 (model available in my country) but after your complaints I am now considering another brand. Maybe HP.
Thank you for enlightening me on this issue.

HP, Dell, Toshiba etc .... They all have their share of horror support stories. It is just a matter of (bad) lucks

cheers ...
