XPS M1210 SD Card Boot

I want to boot linux from an SD card on my M1210. Is it possible?

Not that I'm aware of. The card reader requires a driver from Ricoh in order to function which isn't emulated by the BIOS. If it doesn't show up in the F12 boot device menu you can't boot from it.

Is there any way to modify the Bios so that I can boot from it?

No, because it's not a BIOS issue, it's more an issue with the card reader's controller chip. You could more than likely boot from a USB external card reader or flash drive, but not the internal card reader.

Modifying a BIOS is not something that is not even remotely within the realm of the everyday user. Sure some tweaks can be unlocked and some features too, but if it wasn't coded in there to begin with it's not happening.

OH ok. I know I can boot from a USB drive, I just don't want it jutting out.
