ECS G900 or MicroTel Green 900

I have a Microtel Green 900 Notebook I am trying to upgrade the memory on, this Notebook is identical to the ECS G900. The problem I am having is figuring out how to release the keyboard so I can access the memory modules. The instructions in the manual are very vague and not much help. I was hoping maybe one of you have done this before on this notebook and could provide a little clearer method.

Here is a picture from the manual, as you can see its not much help. Item #2 in the instructions is where the mass confusion comes in....LOL

Any help would be appreciated!

My take is 2) open the computer is like lift up the laptop's lid, and the 4 grips are like latches on the keyboard that can be pushed back ot make it popped up and away from the bezel.

Look at it closely and see if you can make out some sort of small metal latches along the F keys. Then use a flat head screw driver and push it back toward the keyboard.

Thats pretty much what I have tried to no avail. I cant understand what they mean by "Use any card to release the keyboard".

I see one latch between the ESC and F1, one by the edge of the F4, one by F12 and one by Pause.

Meaning I would try to slide a card edge between the crack, push it back and lift it up.

A credit card?? And how would you do that to all four latches at the same time??

You dont do 4 latches at one time. You pop each one out of the crack, the outer sides first. The latches are springy type that push back into the keyboard side.

Thats nothing like I have, I have a small precision screw driver I'm using, the latches do not press down, nor do they slide side to side, or even forward or backwards, it must be a special tool of some kind needed.

Can you upload a pic of that area of your comp?

I appreciate the help guys, but I'm going to just send the laptop to Microtel and have them do it. I'm convinced that there must be a special tool needed to get the keyboard out, I've been dicking around with it for several hours, it shouldn't be that difficult. All I have managed to accomplish it accidentally popping off a couple keys that are a royal pain it the ass to get back on....

Thanks anyway!!

ok, i just downloaded the french version of the manual, and can confirm that they say use a card (hard plastic card), so a credit card was pretty close.

The way it is wording is such that one just use the side of the card, not edge, and sliding through the crack between the keyboard and the bezel to release the grip/latch

Thanks for all the help, I finally got it figured out. The release latches are at the bottom of the keyboard area, not at the top as the picture suggested. Once I figured that out it took all of about 10 seconds to remove the keyboard.....LOL

So cool, I appreciate very much if you can take a pic around that area again to share with the next users.

I came across a Targa Visionary 1900 yesterday - exact same keyboard set up as yours, in removal for ram expansion.
